a different kind of angel...
I took Kaitlyn outside to play the other day because it wasn't SO bitterly cold that day... she wanted to wear her new fairy wings (which I have been saving for spring- I wanted to make her a tutu and take her in the woods for photos). I just can't seem to say no to this child, especially when she butters me up with kisses!
I took the camera out with me, not really knowing if I'd get anything worth posting or not. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised! So if I don't get a chance to shoot anything "new" over the next few days, expect to see plenty of my little angel girl! (ok, fairy, but she looked like an angel to me!)
I think I may be taking this week's theme too literally too... I'm just posting horizontal and vertical crops of the same picture. If it weren't raining AND freezing today I'd trek out to look for other types of inspiration... but since it IS, here ya go, lol!
Just taking a break from playing, sitting on one of the retaining walls in the yard...

And before I close, I just HAVE to share this story and the photo I snapped when it was happening. This is probably one of the worst technical photos of all time, but once you read WHY I took it you'll understand!
After we had played a while, I asked Kaitlyn to sit on one of the tree stumps in our yard so I could take her picture. While I was messing with my settings (I was planning on getting a silhouette of her) she stared up at the sky and started carrying on a conversation. I asked who she was talking to, and she said she was talking to God and asking him if her Papa is OK. (her Papa passed away in November). I snapped the shot as quickly as I could but before I could change any other settings the moment had passed... and of course I was bawling like a baby at that point.
They say that children's connection with God is much more open than ours is as grown-ups... that childhood innocence hasn't been tainted by the world yet. I honestly believe she WAS talking to God... and maybe she was also talking to her Papa... I'll never know.
Someone on 2peas mentioned that her children call this effect in photos "God rays". God rays... I like that. :c)
