the future's so bright...

... I gotta wear shades!

(OK, now I've got that song stuck in my head and no one to blame but myself this time!)

I was just having some fun with the self timer... to celebrate the fact that the SUN is out today! It's still cold, but I'll take a sunny cold day over a rainy one anytime!

You can't really see her in the reflection of my sunglasses, but Kaitlyn is over by the camera giving me "direction"...."C'mon mama, more attitude! That's what I'm talkin' about, you're a rockstar!" It was totally cracking me up. I think she has been watching "Make Me A Supermodel" with me just a BIT too much....

And to answer a couple of questions from yesterday's post, I don't have a dedicated macro lens (though I WANT ONE!). I use my 24-70 lens mostly at 70mm and I use my set of Kenko extension tubes. I have a 3 piece set of tubes that I use in different configurations depending on how close I want to get to the subject. When I want to get REALLY close, I use all 3 tubes. The only real downfall to extension tubes is how CLOSE you have to put your lens to the subject- with all 3 tubes on I literally have to put my lens less than an inch away from what I am photographing to get it to focus! Which is fine and dandy for flowers and inanimate objects, but might not be so great for insects or animals! (yikes!)

I'll try to remember to post my "geek info" (as my oldest son calls it) from now on on my macro shots. And thank you so much for all of the awesome comments about them, it's taken some time and effort to "get it" but I think (hope) I am getting there!
