zoo fun? not!
My mom, dad, sister, ane nephew came to visit for the weekend. We had lots of fun stuff planned. Including a trip to the Evansville zoo. It should be great, right? The kids should have fun, right? I mean, who DOESN'T like going to the zoo?
Kaitlyn and my nephew Avery, apparently! I don't know what went wrong, but it was contagious. About 10 minutes in they both started whining, and complaining, and being just generally intolerable. They didn't want to ride in the wagon. They didn't want to walk. Kaitlyn wanted to be carried (I was NOT about to start that with her! She is too big!). They were tired. They were hungry. Devin was bored. Austin kept disappearing.
Sigh.
Maybe we can try again in a few weeks. Next time I think I want to go back to the Louisville zoo though. At least I got a few snapshots of the kids and the animals to share. I guess I'm not on theme today, since the theme is "happiness" and they were most definitely NOT happy! (well, with the exception of the time they spent feeding the giraffes)
A pretty pink bird (I don't think it was a flamingo though?)
a prairie dog
eeek!
Kaitlyn liked him though
a very friendly giraffe
(see that sign behind the boys? It's blurry, but it says "Please do not feed the animals!" Oops!)
I see you!
this tortoise was HUGE!
some funny little gibbons:
a poisonous tree frog:
a grumpy hippo:
After about 2 hours at the zoo, the kids were ready to GO. We left and stopped at Micky D's for a late lunch then headed back to my house. It wasn't long before this happened (THANK GOODNESS!):
