the outtakes...
I just wanted to post a few of the outtakes from yesterday's "Marilyn shoot" with Kaitlyn. I got several emails about "how did you get her to pose so well" so I wanted to dispel any "rumors" that she is perfectly well behaved and takes direction well, lol!
Our conversation yesterday went as follows:
Me (showing her the photo of Marilyn Monroe): Honey, do you want to help mommy take a pretty picture of you like this to put on the computer?
Kaitlyn: Oh... YES mama! I want to be pretty!
Me: Can mama curl your hair with the curling iron?
Kaitlyn: Oh yes, but don't burn me!
Me: I won't honey... I'll be SO careful.
(I curl her hair... it falls back flat in a matter of seconds because her hair is so fine. I spray a bit of hairspray in her hair- she screams- I am done "fixing" her hair, I give up)
Kaitlyn: I will sit on this little chair SO SO nice for you mama!
Me: That's GREAT sweetie! Can you look at mama and smile a little bit?
Kaitlyn:
Me: Sweetie, that's beautiful! Now can you open your eyes and look at mama?
Kaitlyn:
Me (laughing): That's great, good job honey! Mama just needs you to open your mouth a little bit- keep your hand where it is... that's good... okay, now open your mouth, just a little...
Kaitlyn:
Me (laughing more): You are just TOO much! Do you need to take a break so the sillies can go away?
Kaitlyn: No mama, I can smile nice. (She does, and I get the shot I posted yesterday along with a few other "nice" ones)
Me: You did SUCH a good job Kaitlyn! We are done, do you want your sucker now?
Kaitlyn: Take a picture of this first!
And off we go to get that sucker I promised...
Oh, and I had another question asked, what did I use for the bar in the background. I didn't have anything at all I could use that looked "right", so I added that in later in photoshop! I just used the line tool to make thick white lines, then used the layer styles to bevel the lines and make them look like bars. I know, I cheated!
