Finally jumping on the Orton bandwagon...
I know, I know... it was months and months ago when Orton was all the rage. I just never had a photo I thought would "work" so I never tried it... until now! I was up in Indiana over the weekend for my neice's first b-day party, and I remembered an old abandoned truck in the field beside my sister's house and it dawned on me: that truck would be PERFECT for the Orton technique! I tried to get Kaitlyn to stand by it, or climb on it- anything- but she was afraid to get too close to the "monster", LOL! Here's what I got, but I kinda liked it:
I also got a really sweet pic of K and my cousin's dd walking together. They are almost a year to the day apart in age, but they are the best of friends. We try to get them together as much as possible. I caught this pic when they were walking across the yard to look in the edge of the woods for the "cwocoldile" (which is actually a fallen log that kind of resembles a crocodile). They were holding hands and talking 100 miles a minute, it was so cute! I Orton-ized this one too, and added the friendship saying. I think I am going to print it and frame it for both of the girls' bedrooms.
But anyway, we had a great weekend and it was nice to see some family we don't normally get to see very often. I was the "official" party photog so I was kept pretty busy trying to capture all of the happenings- I came home with over 200 photos on my card from just the party alone! Talk about overshooting! I've really gotta work on that... that was WAYYY too many pics to go through!
Oh yeah... and here's the link for instructions on the Orton technique... if anyone else wants to try it! http://www.naturephotographers.net/articles0106/dw0106-1.html
