A quick update...

Sorry... yet ANOTHER non-photo post! I promise I'll get SOMETHING photography-related on here soon! I did take a few pics of Austin's new hairdo I should show you- the mohawk has made it's return to our house for the summer! You'd think a kid who doesn't want to be "different" wouldn't purposely cut his hair in a way that stands out.. but that's Austin for you.

Devin did football camp this week- yep, the 65 lb scrawny-boy wants to play football now! I fear he will snap like a twig one day. But he is so athletic and it's like he MUST be doing some kind of sport at all times or he's "so bored".

Austin went to a summer enrichment program 4 days this week for his CONNECT class (gifted & talented). He had a BLAST. They had special speakers come in and talk to the kids- an archaeologist, a fish & wildlife guy (sorry, don't remember what he was called!), and they are going on a field trip on Tues. to Frankfort to meet the state rep. and some other political people, take a tour of the capitol building, and eat lunch on a boat on the river! He is pretty psyched about it- heck, I'm psyched FOR him! It's nice to have him happy and looking forward to things for a change.

He is adjusting ok to the meds- but now it seems that his awful mood swings have been replaced by an increase in nervous "tics"- bouncing his knee, tapping his fingers, etc. He always did that stuff before when he was deep in thought or nervous or anxious about something, but now it seems like he is doing it ALL THE TIME and never, ever sits still! He doesn't even realize he's doing it and when I pointed it out to him, it upset him. He doesn't want to look like a "dork" and he was frustrated that he is doing something that he doesn't even realize he does. He even tried holding his leg still with his hand and his leg muscles kept on twitching involuntarily. I called his therapist again and she wants to see him on Wed (and me too) to discuss. I don't really like the idea of him being medicated, but I'm not against it if it will truly help. BUT, I don't want to just replace one problem with another, you know?

So anyway, that's what's going on now... my life is better than a soap opera lately, I swear! I'm hoping things will calm down once baseball is done and we get Austin situated with his stuff... sigh...
