drama magnet

So I was talking to my friend Joanne today about how I feel like I am a drama magnet. Seriously, the more I wish for an uneventful life the more strange things seem to happen to me! I must put out a weird magnetic field that attracts these things, I swear.

Today was a strange one. Not several strange things, just one big one really. I'll start with the photo of the aftermath and explain from there.

Yep, that's Devin with his arm in a sling. Which in an of itself isn't THAT strange, because anyone who knows him knows how much of a daredevil he is. It's a miracle he's only had one broken bone in his life (knock on wood).

How did he hurt his arm, you ask? Oh... where do I start...

My boys have pogo sticks. Not the kind we had as kids, these suckers are pogo sticks on steroids. They are FANCY. I'll have to take a picture of them. Anyway, the boys got this bright idea they would have a "pogo race" today around the driveway (my driveway is poured concrete). It snowed this morning, we got around 1/2 inch. See where this is going?

Anyway, rounding corner number 3, Devin lost control a bit in his pogo-ing, went off-course, tried to pogo OVER a small plastic table on the patio, hit a bit of slushy icy snow... and... yeah. Came down HARD directly on his elbow and head on the concrete. It was busted open pretty good too, it was hard to see through the blood but I was afraid it was skinned down to the bone. Plus, he couldn't move his arm or bend his elbow without lots of pain. SO... I spent the afternoon in the ER, getting him cleaned up, xrayed, bandaged, checking for concussion, the whole nine. Luckily it wasn't bad enough to need stitches. It wasn't broken. And no concussion. Thank GOODNESS. He'll just have a funny story to tell at school, and the sympathy of all the girls... he'll LOVE that!

He just has to wear it in a sling for a few days, and it is pretty badly bruised. I'm sure I'll take pics of it as it heals (still debating on whether I'll post them, don't want to upset anyone with a weak stomach). It's amazing to me how the body heals itself like it does. Maybe I'll document the progress and post it in a week or two. I'm just weird enough to do that. LOL. :)
