playing
Just playing around today... I haven't tried any macros lately and the sun is out so I ventured outside for a few minutes. It's still COLD though, so I didn't last long! Kaitlyn was mad when I wanted to come back inside... but what can I say... I'm a wimp. At least I was able to bribe her with a fudge round to make her happy.
I got a set of extension tubes and boy are they cool! I can tell I need WAY more practice (and a good tripod) to really use them RIGHT. And of course, I jump right in over my head and put all 3 tubes on instead of experimenting with combinations of the 3, or even just one tube at a time. I'm positive that made it even HARDER to focus for me!
In case anyone is wondering, extension tubes are sort of a "poor man's macro lens". You put them on your camera and put your regular lens on the end to force your lens to be able to focus at a closer distance. So with all 3 tubes on my 24-70 lens, I was literally an inch away from these things as I was trying to focus on them and take the picture! Living on the highway, I'm sure people were wondering what the heck that crazy lady was doing sticking her camera to the ground...oh well..
Here are my first few tries (well, the first few that actually came OUT). This first one is one of the seed pods on my crapemyrtle tree... the pod in real life is smaller than a pea.
This is part of a teeny, tiny little fern-like plant I found behind my garage... the entire plant was probably smaller than my fist and the little fronds were almost microscopic!
Here is a part of one of the strange bush things in my garden (yes, that is the technical term, lol!)
The middle of a small tree stump (the entire stump was about 6 inches across), I thought the patterns were interesting..
And last, a bit of snow from my steps:
I cannot WAIT for spring so I can practice on some pretty flowers!
