Randoms from the holiday weekend
All in all, this has been a pretty fun and relaxing holiday weekend for us. The boys didn't fight (much), we got to go do a couple of fun things for FREE (!), and everyone has been in generally pretty good moods (which is a real treat- usually when we're all together for this long it gets UGLY after about 2 days!).
We went to the Patton Museum at Ft. Knox (www.generalpatton.org) for their "Life of a Soldier" days. They put on reinactments of WWII battles, did weapons demonstrations, had authentic wartime memorabilia and vehicles on display for people to look at (and touch!), and had tons of volunteers walking around dressed in period uniforms and clothing who were just awesome fountains of information! They really went out of their way to do this and the kids had a BLAST!
And guess what! We had our very FIRST family photo taken! (OK, some random stranger took our picture and it's not even a GOOD picture, but hey- we're all together in it and THAT'S a feat in itself!). Thought I'd share it:
I also got one of Devin sitting in the doorway of a tank that I thought was kinda cool (I just liked his expession, even though he was only squinting because it was so bright and sunny out!): (I used my vintage action on this one)
And here's one of Kaitlyn, cooling off from the heat with a Jolly Rancher Bomb Pop (SOOOO messy, but oh MAN was she enjoying it!) (used my O-X vintage action):
I have about a zillion more pics of random people in the different uniforms, and of the tanks and vehicles in action in the reinactments... but I'll spare you! They are all just snapshotty pics for our family album anyway... nothing artistic or anything. ;)
I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!
