A nice day for a... WET wedding!

But looking back, it was kind of humorous too.

The rehearsal went fantastic. The weather was gorgeous, it had rained earlier on Friday so everything was nice and saturated. Why, oh why, couldn't we have just done the wedding then?? LOL Yesterday we awoke to pouring down rain. We still didn't stress though, the wedding wasn't going to be until 5:30 so if it let up soon it might still be dry enough to do the wedding outside. It continued to spit rain on & off the rest of the afternoon, no biggie...

My nephew (the bride's ds) woke up from his nap covered in HIVES- he had gotten into something while playing outside earlier... sis freaked out, I was somehow able to calm her down and give nephew some Benadryl and get her to wait it out before running off to the ER... the hives went away after an hour.

We arrived at the venue at 3:00 to do some last minute finishing touches and meet the photographer at 3:30 for pics of the seperate parties. The rain seemed to be holding off and the sun was even peeking through the clouds... we were hopeful. The hired photog ( a student) got lots of (hopefully) gorgeous shots of us girls by the lake, etc, all while masterfully keeping the bride & groom apart (TOUGH JOB!!!). 5:00- the sky opens up and it POURS!!! It lets up a tad at 5:30 so we hurry (literally, we ran!) down the "aisle" (it was a makeshift path lined with buckets with candles in them- not lit, it was too wet). I carried dd (the flower girl) and we literally threw flower petals every which way on our way down!

Sis is ready to make her grand entrance, and the sky opens up again! The groom, groomsmen, and us bridesmaids are all drenched rats! Not to mention all of the guests!!! We quickly move everyone inside the shelter house (ugly!!!!) and resume the ceremony, my sis's "walk down the aisle" was literally for her to walk out of the bathroom with my dad and stand at the end of the hallway! At least my ds did a fabulous job singing, lol.

So we all stood there, dripping (literally), with makeup running down our faces. OH, that video is going to be priceless!!! At the reception (same location), the food wasn't fully heated up yet so we ate cold pulled pork sandwiches!

The band couldn't set up outside under the pavilion until the rain let up... Finally, at 9pm the band was able to set up so the b&g could have their first dance! But after that, it was smooth sailing... ROFLMBO!

At least we will be able to laugh at all of this after a while... but geez, we really busted our butts getting that whole thing set up outside by the lake for the ceremony... it was going to be SO gorgeous! Oh well, it was definitely a wedding to remember!

I wasn't the "official" photog for the day, but you know I took tons of pictures anyway! Here are some of my faves.
