happy birthday grandma!
Today is my grandma's 85th birthday. It meant SO much to me that she wanted to spend the day with my mom and me! I don't live THAT far away from my grandparents, but it's just far enough I don't get to see them everyday like I did before I got married. My grandma is such an amazing woman. She has seen and done things I could never even fathom. She has seen wars, the Great Depression, the losses of children and her first husband, and countless other things I can't even wrap my mind around. And yet she is one of the strongest, most positive women I know. I can only hope and pray that one day I am like her and my granddaughters can see me like I see her- beautiful, both inside and out.
We had such a fun day today. We began at the Fabric Hideaway (and hid away it was!).
In the back room they had GORGEOUS furniture and fancy mirrors... look- I really was there!
From there we drove on to French Lick to the casino! I was hoping she would win 85,000 for her 85th birthday but it just wasn't in the cards (or should I say, in the slots?). We managed to escape without any of us losing any money though! So a winning day. I even came out $9 richer. :)
I thought this staircase was beautiful so I took a quick shot of my mom standing on it. About 2 seconds later a security guard scolded me and told me I am not allowed to take photos inside the casino. So I had to put my camera away. Too bad, I really wanted a shot or two of my grandma playing the slot machines. :(
Even the bathrooms were amazing in there!
After that we ventured over to the West Baden Hotel. OMG is that place STUNNING! The gardens, the fountain, the structure, the trees.... I imagine that is what Heaven will look like!
(I have tons more photos of the grounds I will post tomorrow...)
Finally we stopped to eat at Sonic. It was MMM-MMM Good!
What a wonderful day.... thank you so much for sharing it with me grandma! I love you!
