plant a seed.
I am going to swipe Mandy's blogging style, just for today, and post a couple of quotes that I love that also seem to fit today's photos. I love her blog, for many reasons (the gorgeous photos of her girls being the main one!) but I also love that I come away from it every day with something DEEP to think about. Love ya Mandy! :)
"Though I do not believe that a plant will spring up where no seed has
been, I have great faith in a seed. Convince me that you have a seed
there, and I am prepared to expect wonders."
--Henry David Thoreau
Kaitlyn and I planted seeds in these trays yesterday, to get them started so we can transfer them to the garden in a few weeks. I took this opportunity to have a nice long discussion (as in-depth as one can get with a 3 1/2 year old) about planting seeds and taking care of them and having to have faith that even though we cannot yet see the plant, it WILL grow.
Here she is telling me about how she thinks it is a miracle to grow a beautiful flower from a tiny black seed (love it, she is so much like me she plays with her hair when she talks!)
We brought the trays to the front of the house where they will get the best light and I let her "water" them with a squirt bottle:
She was very proud of her handiwork!
And I will leave you with my favorite quote about seeds (well, it's not really even about seeds, but about potential...)
"dry seeds scatter
from my hand into the wind
one clings
as if to say there is in me
something yet to be"
--Jeanne Emrich
